Local Abstract Expressionist Artist, Justin Garcia, recently hosted an art exhibit and reception featuring a time line of his past works and most recent, The Beginnings. Several art collectors and friends from the art community gathered on September 15, 2010 at Hardy-Nance Street Studios to celebrate Justin Garcia’s past and present successes in the world of art.
The Beginnings chronicled his work over the past several years showing a progression of styles and techniques, also featuring his very first abstract piece. More than 15 pieces of work from three of Garcia’s new series’, Creation, Splash and most recent Essence and approximately 10 pieces from past series dating back from the time he was 12 years old were on display.
Guests enjoyed a design showcase by ASID Allied Member, Jessica Love, music by DJ CubaGoodingJr (Glasnot), wine by Ravenswood and delectable dessert by Sarah’s Sweets. Guests of note included Amy Fote and Nic Leschke from the Houston Ballet, Dr. Jerry Gauthier and his wife Polly, Council Member Stephen Costello and his wife Debbie, Artist Dan Dunn and wife Cindy, Harris County Tax Assessor Leo Vasquez and Suzanne Feather and Bob Vriend and Summer Qaddumi Vriend representing Ravenswood.
With the success of his new series, Justin is focusing on numerous commercial commission placements as well as working with several design firms across the state. Justin will be the featured artist at the 2nd annual Toast to Texas Open House on October 21st hosted by Texas Tuscan Designs along with special guest Houston Texan Earl Mitchell.
