Summer Skin Sense by Cindi Harwood Rose

Whether you have beat the Houston heat, and escaped to a sunny, rainless vacation bliss, or sun-fried yourself at a resort spot, here are home-made skin saving secrets, passed down from generations of families and beauty experts that can save your skin.  Plus here is a fabulous natural mock tanner, that will not damage your skin, such as  most spray tans do, since they have self-tanning lotion in them, that cause brown spots and skin cancer, as defined by California law. Cooling Lotion1/2 cup aloe Vera gel4 drips blue chamomile essential oil10 drops almond oil Apply lightly to sunburned areas, and refrigerate, to use again.  Elbow and Knee Fade Lotion1 lemon1/4 buttermilk Cut the lemons in half, and juice, add the buttermilk to the juice.  Paint this mixture on your knees and elbows, and inside the lemon rinds.  Place lemon rinds on your elbows and knees, and secure with gauze.  Leave on for 20 minutes. Sunblock1 cup Zinc oxide (such as in baby products for diaper rash)1/2 cup sesame oil (not toasted)1/2 cup distilled water Mix this together, and scent it with organic fragrance oil  if you do not like the scent.  Place on skin.  Best natural sun-block ever. Mock Tan4 black tea bags1 tablespoon whole cloves2 cups brown henna1 cup water Boil the water, add the tea bags, add ground cloves and henna-- after straining tea bags, and saving the liquid.  Put on plastic gloves, stand on towels or plastic sheet (such as what painters use), paint a coat on body, non-streaky.  Leave on for 10 minutes.  Rinse in shower.  You will glow girl or guy! If you have other skin problems from the summer sun, stay out of it for awhile, and get a photo-facial, which can eliminate your brown spots.  Use natural moisturizers such as coconut oil, pure food grade to hydrate your skin, or buy one of the good, natural products from a medical professional, avoid department store brands, which may have toxic preservatives in them.
