Digital Audio Transcription – Time to Hit the Trail Running

Becoming a digital audio transcriptionist has always interested me but raising 4 kids has put my interests on the backburner for years now. My background of business classes in high school including 2 years of shorthand mixed with my parents jobs (fireman and RN) have given me an interest in medical transcribing. When I was younger I wanted to be just like my dad and become a fireman. I ended up going to college instead followed by getting married and starting a family. I enjoy typing and busy work so feel that this would be a good career path for me to pursue. I have worked in office administration before having kids. My goal would be to be able to do work from home jobs for several of the many doctors’ in my town. All 4 of my children are involved in sports so I could work around their schedule.

The digital audio transcription course seems interesting and it is great that it comes with everything that I would need for my studies. It seems that it is really set up for the success of the student. I like the fact that Future MT is interested in the long term success of their students and not just the immediate schooling. I feel that if I had questions and needed help with any certain skills for finding work that I would be helped. There is an adult school in my town that offers different classes that could go hand in hand with medical transcribing. They meet one night a week, which would be do-able for me to add with the digital audio transcription courses. This would give me even greater flexibility and knowledge of the medical field. I know there is a lot of terminology that I will need to learn.

My husband of 19 years is such a hard worker and sometimes has worked several jobs at a time. I would love to be able to add to his income to help our family with the expense of raising kids. If I was 20 years younger I would go into the medical field. The timing to do that wouldn’t work for my family at this time but doing the digital audio transcription course could really be a reality for me. A scholarship could make that happen. It would really be a blessing to our family. This last year has been a tough one for my family. We lost my father and an aunt to cancer. It has made me really realize how life can change in the blink of an eye. I know I need to have a career that would sustain my kids and I if something were to happen to my own husband. Life goes quickly and it’s time for me to do something I have thought about for years. Digital audio transcription schools would be rewarding for me to complete. It would be rewarding for me to show my children the importance of completing a goal. It would also be very rewarding to follow-up with my degree and get a job that would help my family. I am looking forward to the opportunity to become a digital audio transcription graduate.
